For soprano, violin, percussion, and electronics, the performer sit on the floor in a circle around a variety of objects. Emerging out of a short rehearsal process and an openly notated score, this piece appears ritualistic through the odd performative actions and ensemble communication. It serves as a reflection on a piece for similar instrumentation performed by the TAK ensemble some months before; meditating on the temporal-spatial distance and disconnected sensation the Internet communication caused in rehearsing that piece.
First presented on March 20, 2018 in St. Paul’s Hall as part of Bordersounds: Language – Sound – Silence.
Special thanks to the TAK ensemble for their recorded presence in the electronics.
